Eligio Martini
Eligio Martini graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1977 from the Politecnico di Torino with an experimental thesis on desulphurisation plants.
After his first work experiences in the refrigeration sector and then in foamed polyurethane, in 1978 he joined Maip to work on the technical and commercial development of engineering plastics, in particular EMS and Bayer products.
He put this experience to good use by taking over, in 1982, an injection moulding company active in the automotive sector, thus adding concrete practical experience of the problems of plastics processors to his previous, more theoretical experience.
After increasing sales tenfold in a few years, he led the company into a merger with a major Piedmontese Group and then, in 1986, acquired majority stakes in Plastotecnica and Maip, leading companies in Italy in the promotion of engineering polymers.
In the following years he started up and acquired several companies active in the production of thermoplastic compounds, including Inteco, Iridos and CIGA.
He is currently Chairman of the Maip Group, made up of 7 different companies active in the promotion of engineering thermoplastics, the compounding of innovative products, the study of special aesthetic effects and new high-tech technologies for the plastics industry.
The author of several technical articles published in trade journals, he has been a speaker at various conferences, in particular some on nanocomposite materials and GreenPolymers.
