Gianmario Pellegrino

Gianmario Pellegrino is Professor of Converters, Electrical Machines and Drives at Politecnico di Torino, where he also serves as Deputy Rector for Technology Transfer and President of the Patent Committee.

An electrical engineer by training, he is an internationally recognized expert in the electrification of mobility and industrial applications. His work combines academic research, technological innovation and close collaboration with industry, as reflected in more than 250 publications and 10 patents filed together with companies.

He is an IEEE Fellow, winner of the 8th Grand Nagamori Award in 2022, and included in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Ranking.

He is also the founder of SyR-e, an open-source platform for electric motor design used by companies and research centers in 82 countries worldwide.

During his career, Gianmario has held positions at leading universities in the United Kingdom, Denmark and the United States. From 2018 to 2024, he served as the Rector’s delegate for the implementation of Politecnico di Torino’s Interdepartmental Centers, a distinctive initiative that strengthened the University’s innovation capacity and its synergies with the industrial and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
