James W. Gerard

James W. Gerard is a senior advisor and partner at Hycroft Advisors, with a successful thirty-year career in the financial services sector.

He specializes in bringing private equity investment opportunities, including funds, co-investments and club deals, to family offices, endowments, foundations, pension funds and consulting firms. His distribution activity spans both the United States and Europe, including France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

He is also Senior Advisor for the United States at Royalton Partners, which provides AIFMD services to fund general partners seeking access to the European Union and Luxembourg markets.

Previously, James led distribution and sales at Tocqueville Asset Management, a French-American asset management firm with offices in Paris and New York. He began his financial services career in 1988 in Citibank’s private banking division.

Before joining Citibank, he lived in Washington, D.C., where he advised several European companies on U.S. trade and tax policy and served as a legislative aide on the staff of the U.S. Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

He graduated from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in 1983, with a B.A. in International Affairs and a concentration in Soviet military and foreign policy. He was also a member and captain of the men’s squash team.
