Lucio Rovati
Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1985. Specialisation in Clinical Pharmacology while attending the Internal Medicine ward of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan and the laboratories of the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Milan. He began his experience in the pharmaceutical industry as Head of the Clinical Pharmacology Department of an Italian multinational, Rottapharm, based in Monza, founded by his father and owned by the family.
He is currently President (Chief Executive Officer) and Director of Research and Development (Chief Scientific Officer) of Rottapharm Biotech, the Rottapharm spin-off for all activities of discovery, research and development of new innovative drugs, of chemical or biological nature.
He is Adjunct Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
Extensive experience in the development, particularly clinical, of new drugs in rheumatology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, broncho-pneumology, CNS, cardiology, internal medicine and immuno-oncology.
He is a member of several scientific societies and the author of over 195 articles published in international scientific journals (H-index=47) and of 15 book chapters. His scientific activity also includes the writing of over 400 abstracts and presentations at international congresses. He has collaborated with international scientific societies and Medicines Agencies (EMA, FDA) on the development of therapeutic guidelines in his fields of expertise.
